An iconic 16th-century temple complex in Hampi, famous for its unique Stone Chariot and mysterious musical pillars.
The Vittala Temple is an exceptional example of Vijayanagara architecture and is arguably the most artistically elaborate structure in Hampi. Dedicated to Vittala, a form of Lord Vishnu, the temple complex is spread across a large area and contains several halls, pavilions, and smaller shrines. The main highlight for many visitors is the iconic Stone Chariot, a shrine dedicated to Garuda built in the form of an ornate chariot, which has become a symbol of Hampi itself. The wheels of the chariot were once capable of turning.
