Let's talk about the river first. If you want to know what to do in albury when the sun is shining, head straight down to the water. Noreuil Park is where the locals go. You'll see families having picnics, teenagers jumping off the banks into the water, and people just lounging under the massive river red gum trees.
In summer, the water is cool and fast-moving. You can rent a kayak or a stand-up paddleboard for about $25 an hour. Or do what I did—just float down the river on a cheap inflatable tube. It costs practically nothing and it is insanely relaxing. Just remember to wear sunscreen. The sun down here does not mess around.
Walking along the Wagirra Trail is another great option. It hugs the murray river albury for over 15 kilometers. You don't have to walk the whole thing, obviously. But the Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk section is brilliant. It features contemporary Aboriginal art created by local Indigenous artists, and there are little plaques explaining the stories behind each piece. It's totally free, too. When it comes to fun things to do in albury, this trail is right up there.
