The easiest way to reach Meghalaya is by air. The main airport is Umroi Airport near Shillong. It has flights from some other Indian cities. The bigger airport is in Guwahati, Assam. It is about 100 km away from Shillong.
From Guwahati, you can hire a private taxi. You can also take a shared cab or a public bus. The drive to Shillong takes about three hours. The road is scenic and goes through hills. This is the main way to enter the state.
